Hello new reader! My name is Simeon McMillan, and I’m a semi-retired media executive who left the rat-race to write full time about stocks and value investing. While working a full-time corporate day-job, I achieved a time-weighted return of +3,400% in my personal trading account from 2016-2024 and now manage my small family office.
I consider Accrued Interest as the public demonstration of my private research process. My edge as an investor comes from the fact that while I began my career on Wall Street, I spent the last decade of my career helping run real operating companies. To paraphrase fellow Columbia Business School alum Warren Buffett, I am a better investor because I am a businessman and a better businessman because I am an investor.
Investing Style: “Value” or “GARP”, but I also love special situations. You’ll find I tend to gravitate towards US-listed media companies, having worked in an Corporate FP&A capacity inside television (broadcast and cable), radio and billboard companies.
Professional Experience: If you would like to see my full CV you can find it on LinkedIn, but here’s the TLDR:
